API Documentation & Developer Resources

Connect hotels, booking engines and travel partners to the BM24 ecosystem with secure, modern APIs. The Bigmedia24 APIs allow hotels, technology providers and travel partners to connect systems and data with the BM24 Travel Network and our hotel solutions. On this page you’ll find an overview of our API concepts, main integration areas and where to access the full technical documentation, sandbox environments and developer support.

What Is the Bigmedia24 API?

The Bigmedia24 API is a set of secure, REST-based interfaces that make it possible to exchange data between hotels, channel managers, booking engines, PMS, travel partners and the BM24 Travel Network.

Typical use cases include:

• synchronising availability, rates and restrictions
• sending and receiving reservations
• updating hotel content, images and policies
• retrieving booking, performance and reporting data
• building custom applications or portals on top of BM24 connectivity

Who Is This Documentation For?

Our API documentation and developer resources are designed for:

• hotel technology providers (PMS, CRS, channel managers, booking engines)
• connectivity teams at OTAs, wholesalers and travel partners
• internal IT and digital teams at hotel groups and brands
• developers and integrators building custom tools on top of BM24 data and services

Core API Areas

The Bigmedia24 APIs are structured around a number of core functional areas. The exact endpoints and objects are described in the full technical reference; this page provides a high-level overview.

  • Availability, Rates & Inventory

Endpoints to manage availability, rates, restrictions and inventory data for hotels and units. Used by PMS, CRS and channel managers to keep distribution and the BM24 Travel Network in sync.
  • Reservations & Booking Flow

Endpoints to create, retrieve and update reservations and booking-related data. Used for booking engine integrations, partner connectivity and custom frontends.
  • Hotel Content & Media

Endpoints to manage descriptive content: hotel details, room information, amenities, policies, images and location data. Ensures that guests see consistent, up-to-date information across BM24 channels.
  • Accounts, Reporting & Analytics

Endpoints to access booking, performance and account-related data. Used for dashboards, BI tools, portfolio reporting and custom monitoring.

Getting Started With the Bigmedia24 API

To start working with the Bigmedia24 API you’ll typically go through a few simple steps.

  • Request API Access

Contact us via support@bigmedia24.com or use the Bigmedia24 chat (bottom-right corner of the website) and mention “API access”. Tell us who you are, which systems you want to connect and what your use case is.
  • Receive Credentials & Documentation

Once your use case is agreed, we provide you with access credentials for the sandbox environment and a link to the full API documentation, including endpoint reference, schemas and example requests.
  • Implement & Test in Sandbox

Your development team implements the integration against our sandbox environment. During this phase you can use test hotels and data to validate flows without impacting live systems.
  • Certification & Go-Live

After successful testing, we review the integration together, confirm that technical and business requirements are met and then enable access to the production environment.

Authentication & Security

The Bigmedia24 APIs use secure authentication mechanisms (such as API keys or token-based access) to protect data and ensure that only authorised clients can call our services.

Key principles:

• all API communication uses HTTPS
• credentials are issued per partner, system or integration
• access can be scoped and limited according to your use case
• rate limiting and monitoring protect stability for all connected clients

Exact authentication flows, headers and token lifetimes are documented in the full technical reference. Never share your credentials publicly or embed them in client-side code.

Environments: Sandbox & Production

To keep development safe and controlled, the Bigmedia24 API is available in at least two environments:

• Sandbox: used for development and testing with non-live data. Ideal for initial integrations, QA and training.
• Production: used for live traffic and real hotel, availability, rate and reservation data.

Most integrations start in the sandbox environment and move to production only after successful tests and a joint review. Details about base URLs and environment-specific settings are provided once access is granted.

Best Practices for Integrations

Based on our experience with hotel and partner integrations, we recommend a few general best practices:

• Start small – focus on the most important endpoints for your initial use case and expand later.
• Handle errors gracefully – implement proper error handling, retries where appropriate and clear logging.
• Respect limits – stay within agreed rate limits and avoid unnecessary polling.
• Keep data consistent – ensure that identifiers (hotels, rooms, rate plans) are mapped correctly between systems.
• Communicate early – if you plan major changes on your side, let us know so we can support a smooth transition.
